Laura made her way to her couch balancing her laptop on her forearm holding in her left hand her favorite blanket and a generously poured glass of wine in her right. After getting settled under the blanket, she checks her phone. A notification flashes that her food is being prepared at the restaurant.

She opens a music app on her computer and searches for a playlist to match her curious mood. She decides that “Autumn & Chill” is perfect and turns her attention back to her phone.

Laura’s been messaging him on and off all day, this potential suitor. Their profiles matched only the night before, but it felt like she had been talking to him for days, months even.

“So, what did you pick?” he asks.

Laura laughs and replies, “Oh, you know, something relaxing. Death metal.”

Pleased with her flirtatious quip, she takes a sip of wine and waits eagerly for his retort.

He sends three laughing emojis. “I totally get that. I’m more in to symphonic pirate metal myself.”

She snorts. “WTF is that?”

He simply says, “The future!” One of the things Laura instantly liked about him was his dry humor.

She feels her stomach grumble and puts a hand to it as if to hush the sound. She quickly switches apps to check the status of her delivery. It says that…
